Activities and services
we offer the 23 children who regularly attend our Balwadi:
1.
Balwadi (Pre-school Preparatory Class)
Started in 2003 to lay the foundation for formal educational and
improving concentration abilities required for classes, we run a
day care centre from 10 am to 2.30 pm for children of women in prostitution
below the age of 6 . This helps reduce their drop out rates in schools
we enrol them into when they are older.

Educational activities
We encourage them to play with puzzles, building blocks, etc. to
improve concentration and psycho-motor development. We use story-telling,
music and animated films to relay information and explain concepts
in fun ways. We also teach them age-specific academic curriculum.

Admissions in school
As the child approaches 6 years of age, we get them admitted in
formal schools.

4.
Placing orphans and HIV
positive children in boarding
Orphans or children are sent to residential homes after following
the proper legal procedure. HIV positive children are put into shelter
homes.

5.
Nutrition
A complete afternoon meal is given. We believe that if these children
are not fed properly during their developmental years, they will
suffer from malnourishment.
And if this happens, they will be permanently and irreversibly stunted
mentally and physically.

6.
Recreational Activities
We take them on out on an annual picnic and to the nearby playground
once a month to release pent-up energy and experience nature up-close.
We celebrate occasions like Children's Day, Diwali,
Christmas, Eid, Holi,
Gokulashtmi
and Dandiya.
We also hold competitions in Art and Craft, Fancy Dress , etc.

7. Health
and hygiene
Once every three - six months, we conduct medical check-ups. In
case a child falls sick in between, we get them checked. If needed,
we get them admitted in hospital and do the necessary follow-ups.
