Networking
Our staff
at present consists of 9 full-time and 8
part-time workers.
To be more effective in reaching out to empower our
beneficiaries and face new challenges, we believe in seeking out
like-minded organizations, both
Governmental (GOs) and non-governmental (NGOs) and Forums, to collaborate
with and use every opportunity to upgrade our own skills
Recent significant collaborations
Six of our Sparrows participated in a project to empower
girl children - SHE
Creates. Through this initiative by Laadli
and Mammovies.
They received training in the art of filmmaking. The video streaming
below is their prized creation titled Muskurathi Roshni
(Smiling Rays)...
Our association with Mammovies began in January 2007,
when we participated in filmmaking competition - Genesis
Film Project. As a result - this
short film was made.

Two important projects we have done in
the past are
a. Condom promotion and HIV/ AIDS Intervention
Program with Mumbai District Aids Control Society
(MDACS)
b. Dancing Feat Project with
Committed Communities Development Trust (CCDT),
and the Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts (SDIPA)
This programme ran for our Sparrows twice a week
for three years (2003 - 2006). Dance therapy was used to help
them understand the physiological and other changes in the human
body. It took the form of life skills and counselling sessions.
The objective was to create HIV/ AIDS awareness
among the children of high risk behaviour groups.

Ongoing networking
c. CDE ward
NGOs Forum: AAWC is also an active
partner of this NGO Forum. It consists of some NGOs working in
the Zonal Wards of C, D, and E with 'children in difficulties
and at risk.'
Action Aid sponsored this
forum's 'Shakti' Project. The main objective was to identify
how women from varied backgrounds relate to different forms of
violence against women especially violence against the girl child
and sex determination.
It also dealt with problems of Gender discrimination.
The Forum also actively participated in the International Campaign
on Violence against Women and Girls.
Nowadays, CDE Ward NGO Forum initiates its
own collaborative projects and activities for member organizations
like the Career Guidance Fair, in June, '07.
d. Referrals for Rehabilitation and
Residential Care
e. Capacity
building: Regular in-house training as well as training
from other institutes and resource centres like Tata Institute
for Social Sciences (TISS)
