Notices for January and February '08 :
- From 12 - 18 January, Raheen Jummani, the in-house
counsellor at AAWC, attended a workshop held by Art
Based Therapy in Pune.
- Three people from Apne Aap Women's Collective -
Manju Vyas, Raheen Jummani and Ashika Pohoomul ran the Standard
Chartered Mumbai Marathon's Dream Run.
- 44 of our women beneficiaries were taken on a day
long picnic to Shirdi on 23 January, 2008.
- Republic Day was celebrated with 12 people coming
in from Tech Mahindra. The mixed group came in with a set of printed
drawing for the Balwadi children to colour - in, and another set
of plain paper sheets for the Sparrows to create their masterpieces.
Lots of laughter and clapping coloured the 4 hour session they took
that day!
- A Postcard workshop that Antoinette Maclachlan held
with AAWC children, on December 28, 2007 as part
of her Indian
Kids Postcard Project culminated one month later, on January
29, 2008. The result - 27 hand drawn postcards of Indian Gods, Goddesses,
actors and actresses. :) (Online Gallery to be launched soon)
- Antoinette Maclachlan also took an hour long session
in Thai massage, on January 29, which 22 of our women beneficiaries
attended.
- 7 students from Sophia College's Women Development
Studies visited us on January 30, as part of an exposure visit to
an NGO working with women in prostitution
